How Were These Medicines Discovered?

The basic system was devised by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, nearly 200 years ago. The system of homeopathy is based on the core phenomenon that each of the homeopathic medicines, when taken by healthy volunteers, produces a number of Identical symptoms in the volunteers. The testing of a homeopathic medicine is called a "proving". The data from provings show us exactly how various homeopathic medicines work. Since homeopathy includes subjective symptoms, such as anxiety about health or a depressed condition, that are also mental or emotional, only healthy human beings can provide the data reliably. Provings cannot be done on animals. These provings form the scientific basis of homeopathy. Each medicine has "proved" to elicit the same physical, mental and emotional symptoms in a number of different, healthy volunteers.
