Television

I once asked Dr. Abraham Maslow, a staff member for Herb Otto's Human Potential Center, where I worked, what he thought of television. He said: "TV's greatest asset: it can evoke compassion! As one sees the starving Indian child one is reminded of the starved divine child within one self. We are all one. However, unless one is very alert, consciousness is lowered not raised. One becomes addicted to the worst level of violence, sexism, consumerism, and militarism in our society. One is addicted to TV if one watches two shows in a row. No! After one program, one program, turn it off and de-brief one self. Did the program do me more good than harm? Is it worth watching again? What main emotion did it evoke: Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness?"
