We Talk About Ourselves

Being a campus minister for 35 years one notices patterns. I've heard many angry students, some under drug or alchohol influence, shout across campus to put someone down. I've never heard the equivalent of "Hey, you wonderful person would you come over here!". Why? Because the person speaking doesn't think they are wonderful. So they sure aren't going to say anyone else is. Like if I say "I Hate You", I mean, "I Hate Me". If someone says to a woman "I think you are very ugly", the proper loving reply is "Oh, I always thought you were sort of handsome!". The way I relate to a ground squirrel or a rock is exactly how I relate to Divinity. "All is one" as Christ Jesus says.
